Applications are now open for the 2024 International News Media Association (INMA) Google News Initiative Elevate Scholarship Programme.
This scholarship is all about giving a voice and opportunities to those who have been historically underrepresented and disadvantaged in the news industry.
If you’re in an early or mid-level role at a news media company and are passionate about the business side of journalism—like subscriptions, data, product development, or advertising—this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
INMA wants to help you build the skills needed to not only advance your career but also bring fresh perspectives and talent to an industry that’s facing new and complex challenges every day.
Who Should Apply?
You’re a great fit for the Elevate Scholarship if:
- You’re part of an underrepresented or disadvantaged group in your country.
- You’re currently working in or aspiring to work on the business side of news media, whether that’s in subscriptions, data, product development, advertising, or the business of running a newsroom.
- You’re employed by a news media company and hold a position below senior management.
- You have less than 15 years of experience in the news media industry.
- You’re under 45 years old.
- You have big dreams of moving into a top management role in a news media company.
What INMA is Looking For
INMA will be awarding up to 50 Elevate Scholarships. They’re looking for individuals who not only need the support but also have the drive and vision to overcome barriers and make a real impact in their organizations and the industry as a whole. Your story, your aspirations, and your challenges will play a big role in the selection process.
