Agora Policy Writing Fellowship 2025
Agora Policy is excited to announce its inaugural Policy Writing Fellowship, open to early- to mid-career professionals from Nigerian civil society, media, think tanks, and government organizations.
This fellowship is designed to sharpen the skills of selected participants in conceptualizing, researching, and crafting persuasive policy papers with real impact.
As part of Agora Policy’s new initiative—the Policy Support, Deepening, and Engagement (PSDE) project—this fellowship aims to promote data-driven, participatory policymaking and governance in Nigeria, with support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
Program Overview
This is a non-residential, three-month fellowship where participants will engage in specialized writing workshops and receive mentorship to complete individual policy writing projects.
Each fellow’s work will be supported by research grants and hands-on guidance throughout the process.
Agora Policy, a Nigerian think tank, is known for its commitment to evidence-based solutions for critical national challenges, offering policy research, fostering productive dialogues, and building capacity for governance, policy, and advocacy.

Eligibility Criteria
- A minimum of a first degree in any discipline
- Strong comfort with data and numbers
- Proven passion for research, writing, and public policy
How to Apply
Interested applicants should submit the following by November 29, 2024:
- A 400-word statement of purpose
- Resume or CV
- Two samples of policy-related writing (published or unpublished)
- A letter of endorsement from their employer, or a reference letter for freelancers
