The Opekete Foundation is excited to announce the opening of applications for the 2024 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship.

Our 2024/25 FBM Scholarships are aimed at nurturing the next generation of nurses and educators in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We are committed to empowering future leaders with financial support to excel and innovate in their fields.

This scholarship honors the legacy of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola, a dedicated teacher and nurse. Driven by her passion for advancing female self-reliance and improving education standards, her family continues her legacy through the Florence Fund.

The FBM Scholarship provides up to N1 million to support students in secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria, creating valuable learning and economic opportunities.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the FBM Scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a female Nigerian citizen.
• Have gained admission to or be currently enrolled in a public university or Senior Secondary School.
• Attend or plan to attend a public or federal government-owned Senior Secondary School or university.
• Intend to study Teaching, STEM fields, or Nursing at the university level.

Academic Qualifications

• Secondary School Applicants: Minimum of 5 distinctions (A or B) in English, Mathematics, and any 3 other major subjects in Junior WAEC.
• University Applicants: Minimum of 5 distinctions (A1-B3) in English, Mathematics, and any 3 other major subjects in WAEC/NECO at one sitting. Must meet the required cut-off score in JAMB for the course and institution.

Benefits

• Secondary School Students: Up to N350,000 per annum.
• University Students: Up to N650,000 per annum.

How to Apply

• Applications close on September 15, 2024, to accommodate result processing.
• Submissions will be reviewed by an independent consultant.
• Awardees will be announced around October 30, 2024.
