Lakehead University in Canada has an exciting opportunity for you! We’re looking for a highly motivated student to join our Master of Environmental Studies (MES) program starting in January 2025.
About the Program
Our program, titled “Sustainable, Safe, Smart, and Connected Building Management to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” is all about using technology to create smarter, more sustainable buildings. Hosted by the Department of Geography and the Environment, this research project focuses on developing a GIS-based indoor floor map for the Four Rivers Environmental Services Group’s new office space. The goal is to improve building management by:
- Collecting data on building floors, energy use, and space planning.
- Capturing indoor images and LiDAR data.
- Creating an indoor model for the office and developing guidelines for navigation, space use, and energy efficiency.
- Designing a smart workspace model for future projects.

What the Scholarship Offers
If selected, you’ll receive a fully-funded scholarship that includes:
- A generous stipend of $20,000 per year for two years.
- Additional funding to cover conference travel, fieldwork, and publication costs.
- Potential extra support for domestic students through graduate assistantships and summer fieldwork opportunities.
