Princeton in Africa Fellowships 2025/2026
Are you ready to make a real difference? The 2025/2026 Princeton in Africa (PiAf) Fellowships are now accepting applications!
This incredible program offers year-long, paid post-graduate fellowships with various organizations doing impactful work across Africa.
Whether you’ve graduated from a U.S.-accredited university or one based in Africa, this fellowship could be your ticket to creating positive change.
Who’s Eligible?
General Fellowship Program:
- You’re a young professional or a current undergrad who’ll graduate by June 2025.
- You have a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. from a U.S.-accredited university.
- You’re fluent in English (CEFR Level C1 or higher); French is a bonus for some roles.
- You’ll be under 35 years old throughout the fellowship (until August 2026).
- You have a passport valid through August 2026.
- You’re not enrolled in any graduate or doctoral programs during the fellowship.

Nexus Program:
- You’re a young professional or current undergrad who’ll graduate by June 2025.
- You have an undergraduate degree, master’s, or Ph.D. from an African university.
- You’re not enrolled in any graduate or doctoral programs during the fellowship.
- You’re fluent in English (CEFR Level C1 or higher); French is preferred for some roles.
- You’ll be under 35 years old throughout the fellowship (until August 2026).
- You have a passport valid through August 2026.
- You’re a citizen and current resident of an African country (dual U.S. citizens aren’t eligible).
What’s Covered?
The Princeton in Africa Fellowship is more than just an opportunity—it’s a shared investment in your future. Here’s what you need to know:
Your Costs:
- A $350 program placement fee once you accept a position.
- Round-trip airfare to and from your host country.
- Pre-departure medical expenses (like immunizations and malaria prevention).
- Depending on your post, you might contribute to visa or work permit costs.
What PiAf and Partner Organizations Cover:
- Housing and a living stipend.
- Certain visas and work permits.
- Medical, medical evacuation, and security evacuation insurance.
- Partial travel allowance and meals/housing for a mid-year retreat.
Note: The stipend is designed to cover your living expenses during the fellowship—it’s not meant for personal expenses back home.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
- Complete the Online Application: Submit it through the online form.
- Resume or CV: Keep it to 2 pages max and attach it to your online application.
- Unofficial Transcript: Attach it to your online application in English and PDF format.
- Official Transcript: Have your university send it directly to piafapp@princetoninafrica.org.
- One Letter of Recommendation: Your recommender submits it directly via the online form.
- (Nexus Applicants Only) Proof of University Enrollment: Attach one of the following—an enrollment verification document, a scanned diploma, or a letter from a university official.

Key Dates:
- Late August 2024: Application opens.
- Tuesday, Sept 17th, 2024 (12:00-1:30 PM Eastern): Info session for prospective applicants.
- Sunday, October 27th, 2024 (11:59 PM Eastern): Application deadline.
- Early December 2024: Applicants notified about interviews.
- Early January 2025: Virtual fellowship interviews.
- February-May 2025: Ongoing acceptance and placements.
- June 6-8, 2025: MANDATORY Virtual Orientation.
- June 10-August 8, 2025: Fellowships begin.
- June 10-August 8, 2026: Fellowships end.
