The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is a regional organization comprising 15 West African nations.

Established on May 28, 1975, through the signing of the Treaty of Lagos, ECOWAS aims to foster economic integration across West Africa.

We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Administrative Assistant (OAG) at the ECOWAS Office of the Auditor General (OAG).

About the Office of the Auditor General (OAG)

The OAG operates as an independent office within ECOWAS, assisting governance bodies like the Council of Ministers and the Audit Committee in promoting transparency, accountability, and good corporate governance across all ECOWAS institutions.

The office conducts a wide range of audits, including financial, compliance, performance, and special audits. It is headquartered in Abuja, Nigeria.

Role Overview

The Administrative Assistant will work under the supervision of the Administrative Officer, supporting administrative, procurement, and protocol functions within the OAG. This position involves assisting in the implementation of best practices and ensuring smooth administrative operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and implementing work programs and budgets, aligning them with objectives and resource allocation.
  • Monitor budgetary allocations and provide reports on progress, identifying deviations and suggesting corrective actions.
  • Develop and adjust goals based on strategies, prioritize tasks, and allocate time and resources efficiently.
  • Help produce detailed reports for management and assist in daily administrative functions such as office management, document retrieval, and information organization.
  • Provide support in logistical tasks for organizing office activities and maintaining an effective workflow.
  • Assist with archiving and scanning documents and writing internal memos, circulars, and letters on administrative matters.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements: Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS) or Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in administrative services or a related area within an international public organization, particularly in contract management.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of internationally recognized procurement standards and contract law.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Age Limit:

Candidates should be below 50 years of age. (This provision does not apply to internal candidates.)

Key Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and manage time efficiently.
  • Commitment to ECOWAS values, including gender equality and diversity.
  • Proficiency in at least one ECOWAS official language (English, French, or Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional language is a plus.

Salary:

Annual Salary Range: UA20,527.07 – UA62,185.62 / USD46,387.61 – USD62,185.62.
